Alice Castel - Northern Recreation Coordinator (NRCC)

Alice came from Pukatawagan, Manitoba but has been in Sandy Bay for 30 years now. Her list of roles and tasks is enough to fill a school blackboard: northern recreation coordinator (NRCC), housing committee volunteer, Kids First North home visitor and even with all this, a local housing volunteer. Where does she get all the energy for her work? She wants to motivate students (and others) to pursue their dreams, goals and best possibilities. She does this through encouragement, support and providing opportunities for youth to participate.


Barb Morin - Principal

Quick Facts - Barb is the Elementary Principal at Rossignol School in Ile a la Crosse. If you don't find her at the school or at community event, you will find her making stuff with her hands, or cheering on her local hockey team.


Bev Laliberte - Community Access Coordinator

Quick Facts - Bev works as a community coordinator for KCDC. She enjoys travelling, shopping, and working with community groups. When she is not working for KCDC, she and her husband run a store in Buffalo Narrows


Cindy Hansen - Dental Therapist

Quick Facts - Cindy works as a dental therapist with the Keewatin Yathe Health District.When she is not at home relaxing with her two daughters, you will find her visiting her family


Clarence "Tsi Boy" Iron - Radio Announcer

Quick Facts - Tsi Boy is originally from Canoe Lake, and works with MBC from the CIPI office in Beauval. He is involved with the community through sports and hosting many events. He likes hunting and spending time with Nature.


Clinton Carriere - School Bus Driver

Quick Facts - It is almost a miracle that Clinton is driving a school bus today. It is even more of a miracle that he is walking.


Cory Forrest - Coach and Athlete

Quick Facts - Cory loves cross country skiing and mountain biking. When he isn't on the slopes, you can find him working out in a gym, jogging on bush trails, or coaching other students in the fine art of racing. Cory has been the provincial racing champion in cross country skiing for 7 years, and the provincial champion in mountain biking for the past 5 years. He is currently attending university in Utah, and working towards a degree in business and commerce


Elizabeth McDonald - Assistant Coordinator

Quick Facts - Elizabeth has lived in Stony Rapids all her young life. Her present mission is to work with children and young people who use the services of the family wellness centre located in the school.


Emile Burnouf - Businessman

Quick Facts - Emile runs Northway Enterprises, a business in I'le a la Crosse. When he is not there, you can find him attending council meetings, fixing trucks, hunting or fishing, curling, or relaxing at home.


Eugene Mirasty - Educator

Quick Facts - Many people spend much of their adult life working, uncertain of what they really want to do for a career. Eugene Mirasty can now say he no longer fits the description. Eugene had worked in various jobs, until he found the one that suited him the best. He now works as a teacher at the band-run Senator Myles Venne School (SMVS) in La Ronge..


Geraldine Rediron - Educator

Quick Facts - Geraldine is a high school teacher at Canoe Lake, you will find her at home playing with her children or on the soccer field organizing a little league soccer team for Beauval. She is currently the Chairperson of the Local School Board for Valley View School


Glen Bouvier - Educator / Administrator

Quick Facts - Glen is currently the vice principal of the high school in I'le a la Crosse. You will find him coaching various teams after school, relaxing at home, or out on the Lake having a good time with his wife and family


Ida Seright - Nurse

Quick Facts - Ida is a Nurse, who works in Buffalo Narrows. She enjoys being a hockey mom, and if you don't find her at the arena, you will find her at the School where she volunteers her time as a local School Board member.


Jerry Morin - Mill Operator

Quick Facts - Jerry, who is a shift boss for Cogema Resources, loves the outdoors, where you will find him hunting or fishing. If not, you will find him involved in community events, and repairing an odd assorment of machines.


Jim Hansen - Pilot

Quick Facts - Jim is a pilot for Courtesy Air in Buffalo Narrows. When Jim is not flying, you can find him in his back yard working on his vehicles, fishing with his brother, or enjoying life with this wife and two daughters


Joe Daigneault - Regional Director

Quick Facts - When Joe isn't working for Northlands College as the western Regional Director, you can find him working at the mayor's office (his 3rd term), helping out at community events, or getting a crowd singing with his karoke machine.


Joe Halkett - Water Treatment Operator

Quick Facts - Born in La Ronge, Joe attended school at Precam school in La Ronge then later went on to a boarding school in Timber Bay. His next move saw him go to Niagara Falls where he enrolled in a private high school. When he returned home, he worked full-time for his father's company, Halkett's Septic Service, one of the few bandmember-owned businesses on the reserve at the time.


John Waite - Businessman

Quick Facts - John is a Buffalo Narrows business man, who enjoys the outdoors. If you don't find him on the water in the summer, you will find him in the arena in the winter. John volunteers his time as a town councillor as well.


Lance Byhette - Principal

Quick Facts - Lance is the principal of Buffalo River First Nations School. When he isn't working with kids at school, you can find him building a new cabin and a garage, or you can find him skidooing, fishing, duck hunting or being at home with his family making crafts


Leda Corrigal - Cree Language Educator

Quick Facts - Leda works for Northern Lights School Division as a consultant. When is not in the office, you can find her relaxing at home with her husband, or spending time at their cabin on LaPonge Lake, or visiting her parents.


Leonard Daigneault - Maintenance Worker and Mayor

Quick Facts - Leonard can be found meeting with executives trying to get businesses to either locate in Cole Bay or invest in the people there, or you can find him working outdoors, enjoying Nature's Bounty


Leonard Roberts - Journeyman Electrician

Quick Facts - For all the thousands of hours he spent apprenticing on-the-job and sitting in a classroom, Leonard Roberts has fulfilled his journey of becoming a journeyman electrician. Its only a matter of time before his business, Eagle Sky Electric, will be submitting bids for electric contract work in northern Saskatchewan.


Linda McKay - Social Worker

Quick Facts - Linda was born in the only hospital that ever existed in Sandy Bay and has lived
there all her life. Presently she does many jobs in the community including
social work, healing and talking circle organization and parish work.


Nick Daigneault - Website Developer

Quick Facts - Nicky Daigneault, 21, was born in Beauval, and works in LaRonge as a Web site developer for Keewatin Career Development Corporation. If you don't find Nicky in LaRonge or Beauval, you can find him singing at the Voices of the North Show in Prince Albert


Ruth Gardiner Roy - Computer Technician

Quick Facts - When Ruth isn't fixing computers, she can be found spending time with her kids, working on various boards, and helping out by volunteering for various community functions in Beauval.


Sandy Rediron - Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Quick Facts - Sandy Rediron is married with 4 kids and lives in Beauval. He is a Emergency Medical Technican - First Responder, working for the Keewatin Yathe Health District. Sandy is involved in a wide range of recreational activities in his community


Sheila Tountsaint - Senior Financial Officer

Quick Facts - Sheila grew up in Stony Rapids and except for some training she took in Prince Albert, has lived there all her life. She is currently the Senior Financial Officer at the hospital. Her job is to pay bills, prepare financial statements and budgets and generally be a good manager of her department. Sheila learned a lot about her field by taking training in business administration at SIIT in Prince Albert.


Shirley Nelson - Community Health Nurse Manager

Quick Facts - Shirley grew up in Weyakwin but has lived in La Ronge for almost ten years.
As a young girl she visited an uncle on his death bed and recalls wishing at
the time that she could help him get better. She traces her interest in nursing
back to an early desire to work in a health field. After high school, Shirley
attended the college of nursing in Saskatoon and achieved a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing degree.


Stewart Daigneault - Artist

Quick Facts - Stewart "B-Boy" Daigneault lives in Beauval. He enjoys working in wood, stone, bone, and stuff like that. His mother worked with her hands, she worked on hides, she did a lot of bead work, a lot of birch bark work. Just to grow up around her was a real teaching.


Tim Laplante - Educator

Quick Facts - Tim, who was originally from Michel Villlage, is teaching in Dillion. He enjoys music, reading, traveling, and being the father for two girls he is raising. If you don't find him in school, you might locate him at his favorite fishing hole trying to catch the huge one that got away.


Tom Carlson - Journeyman Mechanic

Quick Facts - The Carlson name in La Ronge is often linked to commercial fishing and taxies, but one Carlson has made a name for himself as a mechanic. Tom Carlson is a journeyman mechanic, who has been working for the Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Facilities Branch.


Wendy Hood - Family Business

Quick Facts - Wendy, is the office administrator for the Northern Enterprise Fund, can be found at home in Beauval either reading, being a typical housewife, working on the computer, or working at her second job as the office accountant for Butt & Top Logging which she and her husband owns.
